Cardboard boat racing, fun stuff. i have competed before, well sort of. i have volunteered to be the designated boat designer/builder for a friend of mine's kids for the last few years.. Take strips of cardboard that are about 4-5 inches in width and score them in half. then fold them so they create a 90 degree angle and tape them on the bottom inside of the boat. to strengthen the sides on the top, get another piece of cardboard the same size as your boat. cut the cardboard so it has tabs connected to the sides (see picture).. Boat Ramps Near Skyway Bridge

If you have too, you can park along the streets near vinoy park, and have one person drive the boat over to pickup the person driving the car. a little trouble, but at least you are right there. this is one of the most central boat ramps to the center of tampa bay, and it takes about 20 minutes on a calm day to cruise down to the skyway bridge.. The public boat ramp situation is pretty bad, especially over on that side of the bay. the hi-n-dry situation isn't much better. the owners are selling them to be converted to waterfront condos and dock-o-miniums..
