Deck delamination conjures up images of free falling straight through to the bilge but it need not frighten the most resourceful among us. the word "delamination" causes instant visions of a good old boat coming apart at the seams.. I have a 14ft jet sailboat with varnished plywood deck that has a little checking and delamination of the top veneer in spots. i want to do a quick fix to stabilize it and paint over it all with enamel.. No other delamination issues to speak of on my boat other than around the bow pulpit. this was solved with simple digging out the screw holes with a small allen wrench in my drill bit and then injecting lots and lots of epoxy and then redrilling the bow pulpit holes.. The deck, in particular, is stressed by concentrated loads and is not always well supported by beams or longitudinals; because it is part of the boat structure and participate to the overall stiffness it is necessary to avoid any delamination problem..
