The sas vs the sbs. when considering the sas and sbs, the question naturally springs to mind : which one is the better unit? a juvenile concern perhaps, but that hasn't stopped ex-members of both units slagging their opposite numbers off in a series of books.. Special boat service is sbs. it is more specially trained in maratime operations than special air service - sas. both are equally elite. the sas was the first, but both are very good. american delta came out of british sas. delta was before devgru, but both are very good. they all have combat divers. no comparison. they are all the best. seals.. British sas focus on a lot of the same things, minus the maritime operations. a better comparison would be between the seals and the special boat service (sbs). but when comparing these two, it’s apples and oranges. sas does more hostage rescue/ct operations than the seals do unless you count a special seals department – devgru..
Special boat service (sbs) less well-known than their army counterparts, the special boat service is the uk's naval special forces unit. sbs operators tend to come from the royal marine commandos although the sbs is tri-service. the sbs is part of uksf, along with the sas, srr and sfsg.. The director of special forces, an army brigadier, is said to have been infuriated by a newspaper report in which a former member of the special air service suggested that special boat service. The special boat service is the maritime special operations forces of the united kingdom special forces and the counterpart of the british special air servicewith both under the operational.
