Apologies if my terminology isn't up to scratch, i am new to boat modifications, but quickly developing a passion for it. i have a pongrass 4.2m surfmaster with a motor well. i would like to add a outboard pod with platform to give me more room in the boat. i would be building it out of marine ply and and fibreglass.. Design by divtag weebly templates aluminum floatation pods - small aluminum floatation pods - small sku: $270.00. $270.00. these pods are ideally designed to be welded onto the boat. the drain plug in the pod should be taken out during welding to prevent welds from blowing out.. Ok so i built some pods for the back of my boat, they welded great and came together just as i wanted. problem lies with welding to the boat. the pods are .100" and the transom is .090ish". i got them tacked up and in position and i start laying a bead and after a few inches the arc just explodes and leaves a small hole. sh!t i say! well, move on..
Ok guys doing some work on my haines and im looking at putting a pod on my boat but i am a little lost as to what is best a glass pod or an aluminium pod for a glass boat.will it affect its performance or can it damage the transom from the lack of flex from the aluminium pod.. Mine is an aluminium boat, and old stessl. i fitted two 80 litre , completely sealed pods, to my boat,on each side of my motor, so the motor is in a u, so to speak. they hold 80 kg of weight. (1 litr, 1kg) what a difference to the bouyancy of the boat, very stable at rest also. planes at very slow speed, and trims very well.. Re: outboard pod/bracket design this is a modification that i looked in to for my cabin boat as well. i decided against it because of the scale of the changes i would have to make are outside my capabilities on my boat..
